Wow, would you look at that year go by so fast!! And what a year it’s been for us at Cositas! We were met with a wonderful response when we first opened our doors in February and have been going strong since then. This is my first business so I still have a lot to learn but I’ve surrounded myself with people who are experts in their fields which has been an absolute blessing, and it’s comforting to know that they think the shop is off to a very healthy start, for which I am hugely relieved (and am still touching wood!)
I love every single part of my job, from visual merchandising, to chatting to customers, buying and thinking up new ideas for our way forward into 2018. I come to work each day with a big smile on my face as do Sally and Nicole who are my right hand gals!
This year we’ve supported 10 local schools and 6 local charities and are proud to have contributed over £1,000 to the community.
We’re really proud of our beautiful shop and the wonderful spot we have on Holywell Hill. Our friends in the Cathedral have been so supportive and we’ve now got our own Holywell Hill Collaboration where we work alongside other retailers on the hill to think of fun ideas to encourage more visitors; we’ve put on a historical fashion show to raise money for the Shakespearean Mural in Pots Of Art, we’ve had an exhibition of our businesses and more recently Father Christmas came to Holywell Hill!
We continue as we started, supporting really small businesses through our supplier choices who make and produce cutting edge home decor, gifts and jewellery. And even though we love to keep our stock fresh and fashion forward, we’re still able to keep our prices competitive and low.
We pride ourselves on offering exceptional customer service and it really has been a delight to help our customers and go that little bit further to show our appreciation: over the last 9 months we’ve offered free local delivery, exclusive shopping evenings, free Christmas gift wrapping and chocolates for our visitors in the shop.
We launched Cositas Creative in September this year, a whole year earlier than I was planning to be able to and it’s been fantastic! It’s great to see so many of you enjoying the workshops that we offer and 2018 will not only see some new additions to our creative calendar but also in the lines that we will carrying. Keep a look out for that! And, a big thank you to all of our wonderful Workshop Leaders who have helped us make these a huge success.
There’s a little overview of what we’ve been up to in 2017 and what we have planned for 2018, but mainly I want to say the hugest of Thank You’s for those of you who have supported us by shopping with us, booking onto our workshops, writing about us, chatting about us on social media, telling your friends about us, coming to our events and for giving us a wave as you walk past even if you didn’t come in that time.
Merry Christmas to you and all good wishes for a fabulous 2018
Love Emma and the Chicas at Cositas
